North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives announces that they are bringing new energy innovation to 14 rural areas of the state by combining utility-scale solar with battery energy storage. The new “solar + storage” facilities will be interconnected to electric cooperative grids and support the cooperatives’ Brighter Future efforts to build a more resilient, efficient grid while maintaining affordability and long-term sustainability goals.
PSE&G received a national energy equity award this week from the Smart Energy Consumer Collaborative (SECC) for its Clean Energy Jobs Program, an initiative designed to place up to 2,000 people from underrepresented communities into well-paying jobs supporting New Jersey's clean energy goals. The Energy Equity Award is a new category created by the SECC to acknowledge a provider that's advancing a more equitable energy system.

AVANGRID released its 2021 sustainability report, which documents the renewable energy company’s progress toward meeting its environmental, social, governance and financial (ESG+F) stewardship goals. Among the report’s highlights, titled Accelerating Transformation, AVANGRID $2.2 billion to build a more reliable, resilient energy system that will support the clean energy future.

Normal, Illinois, aspired to be part of the electric vehicle revolution long before Rivian came to town. In 2011, Normal dubbed itself “EVTown” in a marketing effort to make the city an early destination for Mitsubishi’s all-electric i-MiEV subcompact. Located 130 miles southwest of Chicago, Normal was home to the automaker’s only North American plant.
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced the selection of 22 large-scale solar and energy storage projects it says will generate $2.7 billion in private investment and move the state closer to its goal of delivering 70-percent renewable energy by the end of the decade. The projects, including more than 2 GW of solar and about 160 MW of storage, represent the state’s largest land-based procurement of large renewables to date and set New York on pace to deliver 66-percent renewable electricity by 2030.

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) released a new report that outlines its strategy to reduce carbon emissions and reverse the impacts of climate change. PG&E’s Climate Strategy Report lays out the company’s path to become “climate positive” by 2050 – which means going beyond net zero emissions and actively removing more greenhouse gases from the environment than it emits.
